Hi everybody.
Today, we’re going to be doing things a little differently. I had my husband find some interview questions and he’s going to interview some characters from my book, Prelude to Destiny: Awakening. Today’s interview is with Rhea.
Keith: Good evening. My name is Keith. Thanks for joining us on our Character Interview segment. Can you tell us your name and a little bit about yourself?
Rhea: Thanks for inviting me, Keith. My name is Rhea Madison Evers. I’m the daughter of Arden and Faith Evers. I’m 17 years old. My birthday is December 8. I’m a senior at Borough Academy. And I recently found out that I’m a magus or some might call me a witch.
Keith: Whoa… you’re jumping straight into the nitty-gritty [chuckling]. Can you tell us about your family? Are you close with them?
Rhea: I have one sister, Cynthia and there’s Dad. My mom died a little over two years ago. Our family used to be very close, but after Mom died things changed a bit. Things are getting better though… a lot better.
Keith: Oh, I’m sorry for your loss. Feel free to pass on any questions you’re not comfortable answering. What’s the happiest memory from your childhood?
Rhea: I have so many happy memories. It would be impossible to narrow it down to one.
Keith: So, earlier you told us you’re a witch… a magus you called it. What is that exactly, and do you have any magical powers?
Rhea: I don’t know a whole lot about the family history, but Grandma told me that we are descended from an ancient race of people called The Magi, who are basically masters of kinesis. Or you might know of it as Elemental Magic.
Keith: I see. So, what powers do you have?
Rhea: Well, I have the power of psychokinesis, meaning I can control objects that I cannot physically see. I’m also telepathic and empathic and I have some control over the elements Earth and Wind, which is technically a form of kinesis.
Keith: You’re telepathic… do you know what I’m thinking right now?
Rhea: [laughing] No. I’m still learning how to control that power. Your secrets are safe.
Keith: All right. I guess I’ll believe you for now. Who is your best friend?
Rhea: I have a good friend from school. Her name is Hope, but I guess Cynthia is my best friend. We’ve always been close and I don’t see that changing.
Keith: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
Rhea: If I could change one thing, it would probably be my powers. Sometimes I don’t think I can handle being a telepath or empath. There’s lots of responsibility that comes with it… but I guess that’s true for all magic [shrugging].
Keith: What do you do when you’re angry?Prelude to Destiny
Rhea: If I’m feeling angry I meditate. I could be channeling someone else’s emotions and not realizing it.
Keith: Oh yeah… I can see how that would be a little unnerving [grimacing]. What is the greatest obstacle you’ve ever had to face?
Rhea: Facing a more experienced telepath. But I don’t want to get into that here.
Keith: No problem. Moving on then, what emotion or feeling disturbs you most?
Rhea: Jeez [sighs] I guess hatred disturbs me most. Before I found out I was empathic, I never understood just how deep that particular emotion can go.
Keith: I see [nodding]. If you could cure one disease, what would it be?
Rhea: Um… can I just say cancer and group them all under one? (Sure, why not.) Then cancer.
Keith: Do you like cats or dogs?
Rhea: Neither. I like birds.
Keith: Have you ever smoked?
Rhea: Um… can I skip that question? [looking over at her father and sister] (Of course.) No. I’ll answer… a couple of times when hanging out with friends from school. I didn’t like it though.
Keith: How about alcohol? Ever sneak into your parents’ liquor cabinet?
Rhea: I had a few sips of beer before. Didn’t like that either.
Keith: Do you have a boyfriend?
Rhea: My dad doesn’t allow dating until I’m 18.
Keith: I’m sure Pops doesn’t allow smoking and drinking either… that didn’t stop you. [chuckling] Seriously, no boyfriends?
Rhea: Nope.
Keith: All right, one last question Rhea… when you walk into a room, what do you notice first and why?
Rhea: I definitely notice the people first. The group of people can tell you a lot about the situation.
Keith: Well that wraps up our interview, Rhea. Thank you so much for answering my questions.
Rhea: No thank you for inviting me. This was fun. Prelude to Destiny: Awakening
